Context
The World Federation for Animals
The World Federation for Animals (WFA) is a global federation of 70+ NGOs working to embed animal welfare into sustainable development worldwide. We advocate for integrating animal welfare into international health, food, and environmental regimes, and trade and development finance rules. Since our establishment in 2020, WFA has become a UN-accredited force driving transformative change for animals by uniting peers and experts to influence global decision-making at the UN and other international institutions. We achieve global impact for animals – together.
The team
You will join a small, international team of ambitious, professional, and supportive individuals. Meet them here. Our team works collaboratively with WFA member organisations, all committed to making a positive, long-lasting difference for animals worldwide. Meet our members.
The role
WFA communications reflect the Federation’s focus on international policy. They are solution-oriented and evidence-based, and our messaging promotes collaboration and partnership.
This role will facilitate both internal communications—strengthening resources and services for members—and external communications—scaling public-facing channels to amplify WFA’s mission.
Main areas of responsibility
- Generate, curate, and disseminate strategic knowledge for WFA’s team and members, including through the production of weekly digests, monthly newsletters, and interactive learning / capacity-building materials for the Federation.
- Connect, coordinate, and empower WFA members through the Global Communications Network and the development of communication toolkits to aid members’ advocacy efforts. This will also include working with the Membership Officer to produce online and in-person events to encourage greater engagement of animal protection organisations in WFA’s work.
- Elevate advocacy and success messages through consistent, impactful storytelling and marketing material for use across WFA social media channels and its website. This will also include showcasing and celebrating the Federation’s work, internally and externally.
Key relationships
The Communications Officer will report to the Global Policy & Communications Manager and work closely with the policy team, Membership Officer, and communications colleagues from WFA member organisations.
