Francesca Gallelli

Francesca Gallelli is the Food Systems Policy Officer at the World Federation for Animals, where she works to strengthen the protection of animals within international food and agriculture policies. In this role, she leads the Federation’s engagement with the UN’s Rome-based agencies (including the FAO, IFAD and WFP) and with other key stakeholders driving the transition towards more resilient, sustainable and humane food systems.

Before joining the Federation, Francesca served as Italy Policy Manager at the Good Food Institute, where she was leading the engagement with the FAO and Italian institutions. Her experience there deepened her understanding of how international policies shall improve outcomes for animals to build a more sustainable, resilient, and ethical food system.

Based in Rome, Francesca represents the Federation in global food governance processes and helps position animal welfare as a central pillar of a just and sustainable global food future.
